Our story
Fern & Filter started in 2019 with a simple idea: make great coffee, keep things simple, and leave room for people to be.
Fern & Filter is a specialty coffee bar at 123 NW 23rd Avenue in Portland, Oregon, roasting its own beans in small batches and open seven days a week since 2019.
We roast our own beans in small batches at our roastery in southeast Portland. Every bag is sourced from farms we trust, where people are paid fairly and the land is treated well. We are not perfect about it, but we are deliberate.
Light to medium. We want you to taste the origin, not the roast. Our single-origin rotates monthly, so ask at the counter or check the menu for what is fresh.
The fern is Portland: it grows everywhere and asks for very little. The filter is the work: taking something raw and turning it into something worth slowing down for.
